Pedestrians and Cyclists
| |
Only ride on pavements and
paths where you see either of these signs which indicate that
shared use with pedestrians is allowed. |
|
Many pedestrians feel insecure
on routes shared with cyclists. If you are cycling on a shared
route you must be considerate to pedestrians. Very young children,
older pedestrians and people with disabilities are especially
vulnerable.
Please remember to ... Slow down near pedestrians and stop
if necessary. Let them know you are there - say "excuse me", or
use a bell. Never assume they have heard you coming - some may
be hard of hearing. Also give them as much room as possible -
don't squeeze past.
Take care at corners or near obstructions. Ride with lights
on at night and in poor light. Look out for passengers at bus
stops. Always obey the signs.
 |
Keep to your side of
a white line or kerb on segregated routes.
